Caught on Film

From the ATM vestibule at HSBC on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street on a rainy, wind-swept June day. The man whose head appears between the "a" and the "n" of the bank in the window has just experienced maximum umbrella blow-out. I saw it coming so I had the camera ready.
Moments later, his murdered umbrella lay pitched in the nearest trash can:

Promenade Expiration
There, in the lower right, on the grass. This photo was taken on July 15, 2008 along the Belt Parkway, near the bike/foot path along the Verrazano Narrows. Two days later, on July 17, and the umbrella is a few feet away, on the path itself. Hundreds of unconcerned passers-by have ignored this sad corpse.
